Before creating DC Ranch, its developers spent years traveling the country's neighborhoods, new and old, to determine what made a community livable and great. They took what they learned and applied it to DC Ranch. The streets curve, there is ample open space, and house setbacks vary so that the resulting streetscape is very unlike the cookie-cutter neighborhoods that have come to dominate. A network of walking paths wind through the 3,700-acre master plan connecting homes to community amenities, schools, churches, parks and shopping. Every home is wired with fiber optics for telephone, cable and high-speed internet access. A community center offers residents swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball, fitness.
DC Ranch is set in the ruggedly beautiful vegetation that grows taller and lusher as the land rises towards the McDowell Mountains in northeast Scottsdale. The master plan, developed by Vernon Swaback AIA, offers a true sense of neighborhood by creating villages that conform to the land and its natural features. Views include long distant vistas over the valley floor with its city lights at night, as well as lush green golf courses and rugged desert mountains. The Country Club at DC Ranch
A private club with golf, swimming, tennis, a fitness center, educational classes and fine dining awaits its members. The Country Club at DC Ranch is situated in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, architecturally designed to blend into the environment while recalling memories of the 1920s and 1930s grand western resorts. The Scott Miller designed, par-71, 6,872 yard golf course features four tees on each hole, with a 72.4 rating and a slope of 130 from the professional tees. Every hole frames spectacular views that surround this golf course.
A clubhouse membership includes the use of swim and tennis facilities as well as dining. Use of the golf course is not included.
A second course, designed by Tom Weiskopf, will also be part of the private club, distinct and separate from the first. Contact the O'Malley Group for pricing and information on this course and club at (480) 505-1346.
Hole number 12 is a breathtaking uphill par-4. The fairway is heavily bunkered along the right side. The bunkers are very deep and continue all the way up to the green. The hole is short enough - 253 from the blue tees - to tempt a big-hitter to go for the green with the drive. If you choose to lay up on the left side of the fairway you will probably take a wedge in. It is wise to take an extra club with your approach because the green has a hard slope in front. You need to land at least in the middle of the green to keep the ball from rolling off. By the time you are putting the air might seem thin as this is the top of the DC Ranch property and one of the higher points in all of Scottsdale. Don't forget to turn around and take in the views of the city and surrounding mountains.
